Cellular network, phases of the FDMA/TDMA planning process, capacity planning, capacity, offered traffic, coverage planning, coverage and QoS, radio link budget RLB, propagation models, frequency planning, elements, hexagonal cell model, C/I ratio, frequency reuse factor.

Parameter planning, optimisation, coverage and capacity modifications, WCDMA network planning, process.
Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
After completing the unit the student knows the radio network planning phases and principles of the cell capacity dimensioning. The student understands the radio link budget construction and knows different propagation models. The student has knowledge of the C/I ratio and the K factor as a frequency planning parameters.
Core content level learning outcomes (skills)
After completing the unit the student has skills to calculate the offered traffic and the cell capacity. The student has skills to construct the RLB and to apply different propagation models. The student is able to calculate the frequency reuse factor and to form the list for radio channel assignments.
