Digital design flow with PLDs using both graphical design tools and hardware description language

Basic architectures of Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLD) and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and basics of Hardware Description Language (HDL) are covered in this unit.

After completing it the student understands the basic properties and limitations of the programmable logic devices and knows when and where to use PLDs. Also the student knows basics of hardware description language and how to use it to design digital logic with PLDs.
