Telecommunications network, network topologies, transmission media, transmission systems, multiplexing methods, transmission standards PCM, PDH, SDH, ATM.
Course contents (additional)
Radio links, fixed satellite systems, frequency bands, satellite transponder, analog and digital trunk systems, VSAT systems.
Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
After completing the unit the student knows telecommunication network construction and network topologies. The student is able to understand the spread spectrum technique principles and other access methods. The student has knowledge of a transmission systems and media and the transmission standards.

After completing the unit the student has skills to analyse performance of nodes and transmission paths in a communication network. The student is able to select a transmission system for an application to be considered.
