will learn the basic concepts
- of linear equations and functions
- of business mathematics
- of indexes and the value of money
- of interest and calculating compound interest and their applications

will be trained in using spreadsheet (Excel)

- to solve the basic problems of business mathematics as in working life situations
- to compare financing and investment options and use suitable theory and methods

will be trained in using spreadsheet applications of business mathematics (Excel)

The student will be able to solve the basic problems of business mathematics using the working life situations as a starting point. They will develop their mathematical skills and their power of deduction. In additon, they will practise their information acquisition, problem solving and group work skills.

Teaching and learning strategies

This course will be taught by lectures and assignments. Assignments can be done by the PC or calculator. The Excel software is used during the course.
