Prerequisites
A 30 credit internship period is a mandatory part of the Bachelor´s degree programme.
The internship can be completed during an extended 20 week period in accordance with the specialisation option.
The professional training period can begin only when the student has been introduced into her spcialised optional studies.
Course contents (core content level)
The training period is part of the Bachelor´s degree programme. The objective of the training period is to instructively introduce the student into vital processes relevant for the student´s professional studies. The aim is also to develop and support know-how and skills in accordance with working life.
Typically the student leaves for her professional specialised training after her 2. or 3. year of study. The condition is that the student has begun her specialised studies. Earlier work experience is not normally accepted as specialised professional training.
Course contents (additional)
The aim is to give the student a chance to apply theory in practice and to develop her skills for independent work in her area of specialisation. The internship enhances student skills, introduces her to work in relevant areas according with her area of specialisation. It supports and complements her Bachelor´s degree studies.
The internship can be completed either in a Finnish or in a foreign company, in a public institution or in any other appropriate organisation such as in a community or association. Self-employed work can also be accepted if other conditions for the internship are fulfilled.
Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
For the degree programme in the School of Business Administration appropriate work duties are among others; sales- and purchasing duties, consultation and specialised professional tasks, planning-, development- and reporting duties, statistics-, research- and other exploratory related tasks, fairs and tradeshows in addition to sales and marketing planning related duties.
Core content level learning outcomes (skills)
The objective of the internship is to give the student an opportunity to apply theory in practice and to develop her skills in practice. When planning for the internship it is important to notice that ithe training supports and enhances the student´s professional growth. The internship needs to be diverse and it should become more challenging as the internship proceeds.
