Prerequisites

Two years of studies on Bachelor´s degree.
The course LB3001 is strongly linked to the Bachelor´s thesis.

Course contents (core content level)

Research with the aim to create new knowledge.
Bachelor´s thesis in a University of Applied Sciences.
The central tools and strategies related to research and development work.

To acquire knowledge, to process and handle knowledge, to identity research- and development related tools and strategies, options and possibilities related to the Bachelor´s thesis.

The research problem and research questions related to the Bachelor´s thesis. The purpose of a research plan. A theoretical framework and its relevance.

Course contents (additional)

What is data and how can data be collected and analysed.. The research path and arguments to support it. To view writing and the thesis as a process.
To acknowlege the challenges related to context and ethics, writing, analysis and reporting.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)

To acknowledge decision processes related to research and development work as part of professional expertise. The student learns about research approaches and development tools related in working life.

Basic conceptual understanding and methodological issues related to applied science.

Core content level learning outcomes (skills)

The student understands the relevance and importance of analysis and pre-understanding, and to the importance of structure. She learns how to direct her knowledge interest in relation to theory, context, analysis and result. The student understands the importance and relevance of a theoretical framework and the challenges related to academic writing and ethics.

The ability to recoqnize and define, search for, apply and argue for choices.
