Descriptions
Prerequisites
No Evtek-studies required. Basic knowledge of PLCs recommended.
Course contents (core content level)
User interfaces in automation, design methods and principles. Implementation of the communication between user interfaces and control system. Designing of the process pictures and screens.
Course contents (additional)
Implementation of the alarm/eventsystem, data acquisition, reporting and recipes. Different phases of an user interface project of automation.
Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
Objective of the course is to get to know the features and design methods of the user interfaces. Student learns how to make the communication between user interfaces and control system and gets acquainted with user interface design. After completion of this course the student knows how to design user interfaces in automation projects, make communication between user interfaces and control system and design process screens.
Core content level learning outcomes (skills)
Course gives skills for designing user interfaces for discrete and process automation projects. During the course some of the design tools used for user interface design in automation are gone through and used in PC- and laboratory exercises. In the practical laboratory exercises design tasks are done, where student makes interfaces and controls for equipment and PLCs of the automation laboratory. After completion of the course student knows the principles of the most common design tools and knows how to design user interfaces of automation.
