Prerequisites
Electric circuits and networks, Signals and transients, technical documentation. Electric power engineering recommended.
Course contents (core content level)
Various electric schematics, such as apparatus diagrams, circuit diagrams and connection diagrams. Automation schematics, such as logic diagrams, process flow charts, instrumentation blueprints and PI ? diagrams. Automation-, phone- installation- and power cabling. Dimensioning and protection against overvoltage/current and electric shocks. Grounding, equipotential bonding and electric power distribution and emergency power supplies.
Course contents (additional)
Basics on telecommunications, real estate automation and various special applications. Various power and automation system control methods, field buses, logic control systems and wireless control.
Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
Student has basic knowledge on different installation techniques concerning the automation / electric network interface. Student is able to interpret various electric and automation schematic diagrams and in theory is able perform new installations according to official instructions.
Core content level learning outcomes (skills)
Correct interpretation of electric and automation schematic diagrams. With the help of the laboratory exercises the student is introduced to installation tasks, in which various sensors, safety components and control equipment are connected to, for example, an automation system. Logic programming, intelligent relays, start up procedures of field buses. Usage of electric installation testers and composing inspection records.
