Biochemistry 1, 2 + laboratory courses, Gene Technology, Molecular Biology

Course contents (core content level)

The course consists of six laboratory exercises performed in pairs. The exercises are composed of modern, technically demanding techniques for molecular biology and environmental biotechnology. The course also includes an excursion where research teams demonstrate some instrumental methods which cannot be performed at EVTEK.

Evaluation of the functionality of the methods in use, clarification of potential failures, error calculations, comparision with alternative methods, development of new solutions for problem solving

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)

After completion of this course the student is familiar with several methods for molecular biology and environmental biotechnology, the basic principles for cell cultivation, the possibilities and limitations of the methods in use, and the operational principles of the equipment.

After completion of this course the student can apply and put to use the taught advanced methods in different consortia; for research and development, production, and for commercial objectives.
