Course contents (core content level)
Programmable logic controller controlled system. Programming languages according the IEC 61131-3 standard. Basics of the PLC programming. Operating principle of the PLCs, structure and applications.

Designing of automation project and application based on the PLCs. Modular logic programming.
Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
After completion of the course student understands fronm which elements the PLC controlled automation system are composed. Student knows the operating principle, structure and applications odf the programmable logic controllers.
Core content level learning outcomes (skills)
Student is able to program with ladder and FBD languages. Student knows how to act as part of the project team in automation project and understands the meaning and purpose of different elements in automation system. Student understands how the measuring devices are connected into the control system and how the control and supervising happens as well how the field devices are controlled.
