Prerequisites

Inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry and organic chemistry.

Course contents (core content level)

Ecology subject: abiotic environment, the cycles of some elements, which are important to the life, energy flow in ecosystems, structure of the plant and animal cells, cells and energy, relationship between the species, ecology of the populations, problems in the relation of the techno system to the ecosystem, concepts of biodiversity.
Environmental chemistry subject: the atmosphere, the terrestrial environment, the hydrosphere, chemical pollution in the ecosystems, energy and material flows, waste and recycling, sustainable use of natural resources, toxicology and ecotoxicology.

After completion of this course the student understands basics of the environmental chemistry, ecology and ecotoxicology and she or he is able to pay attention to the environmental impacts of industry and human actions
