Descriptions

Prerequisites

MATLE0111, MATLE0112

Course contents (core content level)

- Geometric series and power series
- Fourier series expansions and spectra of periodic signals
- The response of a periodic signal in linear system
- FFT and IFFT by using Matlab
- Discrete systems, difference equations and z-transform

Course contents (additional)

- Solving ordinary differential equations by using power series
- Harmonic analysis by integrating the periodic signal

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)

After completion of this course the student understands the meaning of series. By using computer, the participant is able to solve the Fourier coefficients of both a periodic signal and of a response of periodic signal by using a transfer function in linear systems. Student can produce the response of a discrete system by using recursion or z-transform.

Assessment weighting and grading

In order to pass the course (grade 1), student should get 40% (in all) of the total score in two individual tests . The ability to write Matlab code is also checked in tests. Homework activity has influence on the grade.
