Course contents (core content level)

MOSFET structure and properties. Layout of MOSFET circuits. Resistors and capasitors in integrated circuits. The structure and analysis of a simple integrated MOSFET operational amplifier. SC filters. Most common A/D and D/A converters.

Course contents (additional)

SC filter analysis using z-transform. MOSFET aliasing. Design and analysis of integrated analog circuits using a IC design software. Other A/D and D/A converter topologies.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)

After completion of this course the student will be able to understand the special properties of integrated MOSFET circuits. The student will know the the structures and layout rules of MOSFETs. The student will be able to analyze the properties of a simple MOSFET operational amplifier. The student will know the operation and topologies of the most common integrated A/D and D/A converters.

Core content level learning outcomes (skills)

After completion of this course the student will be able to design the layout of a simple MOSFET circuit. The student will be able to design integrated resistors and capacitors. The student will be able to define the small signal equivalent circuit ot a MOSFET based on its structure.

Assessment weighting and grading

Assessment of the compulsory homework assignments and the project report. Final exam.
In order to pass the course (grade 1) the student must successfully complete compulsory homeworks and the exam. The student as well has to give an oral presentation of a given subject related to either A/D or D/A converters. The IC design software project is not necessarily required to pass the course (of course has a significant effect on the final grade).
