Course contents (core content level)

Basics of the automation technology. Basic elements of the discrete control automation. Observing, recognizing and indentifying of the piece goods. Control system in automation technology, programmable logic controllers. Meaning and basics of the measurement and control technology.

Material handling, transporting and warehousing. User interfaces in automation. Overall equipment efficiency, OEE-concept.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)

After completion of the course student understands from which elements the automation system are constructed and knows how to apply automation technology when automating production lines. Student understands how the measurement devices are attached into the control system and how the control and supervising is done as well how the field devices are controlled.

Student is able to perform as a member of an automation project and understands the meaning and purpose of different elements in automation system. Student knows the basics of the PLC programming.
