Basic knowledge in programming, application development and database management are compulsory prerequisites.

- Import and export of data between different systems
- Data backup and restoration
- Automation: sequences, triggers, and stored procedures: their creation, exploitation, and administration
- Optimization of processes: queries, indexing, table and file structures
- The principles of distribution and scalability in database management

- Installation, administration, and maintenance of a commercial database management system (Oracle)

After completing the course the student knows the basics of implementation of a database management system and is capable of participating in the design processes of databases and managing them successfully.
