Radio networks, cellular network, FDMA/TDMA planning process, capacity planning, capacity, offered traffic, cell dimensioning, coverage planning, coverage and QoS, radio link budget, propagation models, frequency planning, elements, hexagonal cell model, C/I ratio.

Parameter planning, optimisation, capacity and coverage modifications, WCDMA network planning, process.
Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
After completing the unit the student knows the network planning phases and principles of the cell capacity dimensioning. The student understands the radio link budget and knows different propagation models. The student has knowledge of C/I ratio and K factor as frequency planning parameters.

After completing the unit the student has skills to calculate the offered traffic and the cell capacity. The student has skills to construct the radio link budget and to apply propagation models. The student is able to calculate the frequency reuse factor and to form the list for radio channel assignments.
