Prerequisites

Course contents (core content level)

Basic concepts of direct and alternating current circuits, Ohm?s law, Kirchhoff?s laws, superposition theorem, mesh current and node voltage methods, Thevenin?s theorem, phasor notation, power, RC- and RL-circuits, resonance circuits, basic measurement devices, fundamental rules of electrical safety.

Course contents (additional)

Equivalent Y- and Δ-connections, Norton?s theorem, computer programs in circuit analysis.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)

The student acquires basic knowledge of the analysis of direct and alternating
current circuits. The student knows the most common methods of circuit analysis and is able to select the most suitable method for each analysis problem. The student understands influence of frequency to the the behavior of circuits.

Core content level learning outcomes (skills)

The student can operate basic measurement devices and can understand the factors that affect the measurement accuracy. The student can design and implement simple circuits on the switching board. The student knows fundamental rules of electrical safety and working in a laboratory.

Assessment weighting and grading

In order to pass cource the student must complete exams, laboratories and project. Before working in a laboratory the student must complete exam of electrical safety. Homework assignments also influence to final grade of the course.
