Prerequisites

Course contents (core content level)

Measurement system, multimeter, bridges, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, sensors, control system models, test functions, P, I and D controllers, LTI-systems, L-transform and transfer function, stability.

Course contents (additional)

Control system analysis and design methods, Bode plots, Nyquist diagrams, nonlinear systems.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)

After completing the unit the student knows the construction and operation principles of basic measurement devices for communication systems. The student is able to understand the control system construction and concept of transfer function. The student has knowledge of stability evaluation methods and the Laplace transform applications in control systems.

Core content level learning outcomes (skills)

After completing the unit the student has skills to calculate the circuit parameters for current and voltage measurements and the student can determine signal time-domain and frequency-domain measurements dependence of the measurement devices bandwidth. The student is able to use transfer function in system stability determination on the s-plane. The student has skills to apply block diagram and signal flow graph models for the control systems descriptions.
