Basic Course in Mathemathics A
Course contents (core content level)
The meaning of derivative, numerical and graphical derivation. Analytic derivation of basic functions and derivation of the product and the quotient. Applications to chemical processes and corrosion. Elementary curve sketching using derivative test. The theory on maxima and minima. Functions with two and three variables and derivation.
The integral function and integration of basic functuoions. Definite integral with application to find area between two curves. Numerican integration and the areas.
Volumes and surface areas using definite integral.
Introduction to differential equations. Apply to radioactive decay.
Course contents (additional)
Derivation and integration of complicated functions. Modelling with integral equations and differential equations (eg. Chemical prosesses).

The studen knows the meaning of a derivative function. The student is able to derive and integrate basic functions. The student is able to use derivatife function to find maxima and minima.
