Basic mathematics, engineer?s physics

Course contents (core content level)

Production, transmission and consumption on electric energy. Electricity?s impact on humans. Cabinet closures and IP ? standards.
AC - and DC ? circuits; the Ohm?s law, power equations, Kirchoff?s current and voltage laws. Reactive components in AC ? circuits. Rectifiers and electricity-based applications in surface treatment processes.

Course contents (additional)

Electric motors, frequency converters, sensors and various electrical schematics. Basics in electricity measurement technologies.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)

Student manages the basics in electrical engineering theory. Student is aware of the benefits and advantages of electricity as well as its dangers. Student understands the importance of electricity as a part of surface treatment.

Core content level learning outcomes (skills)

Student is able to check the operation of a DC ? power source by using basic measurement equipment. Student understands the reason of having separate electrical rooms as well as different IP ? classes. The dangers and possibilities of electricity are concrete.
