expanding basic vocabulary: working day, leasure and celebrations, seasons and weather; expanding basic grammar: object, consonant gradation in verb types 3 and 4, postpositions, necessive sentences, the third infinitive and past tense of verbs, new nominal types; improving oral and writing skills

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
On completion of the course the student will be familiar with some basic vocabulary in the everyday contexts of shopping, working, housing, talking about the weather and speaking on the phone. The student will be familiar with the grammatical formation of the object and the third infinitive and past tense of verbs. The student will know how to express necessity. The student will be familiar with the Finnish way of life and some Finnish traditions and customs.
Core content level learning outcomes (skills)
On completion of the course the student will be able to talk and write brief texts about his or her home and working day, and the weather, using past and present tenses and the third infinitive verb forms and expressing location with postpositions.
