Prerequisites
completed Finnish language (as a mother tongue) studies at upper secondary school or vocational school or, if native language other than Finnish or Swedish, the Finnish language entrance examination at EVTEK or the The National Certificate of Language Proficiency on the advanced level or at least grade magna cum laude approbatur in Finnish as the second language in the Finnish matriculation examination

standard layout of a business document and applying it to job applications; use of Finnish in technical texts, especially abbreviations, inflection of foreign loan words, lists, numbers and symbols; basics of academic writing, i.e. structure, locating relevant source material and its appropriate use, paraphrasing, documenting references in the text, compiling a reference list, figures and tables, formulas, layout

composing and editing information, conclusions related to media technology
Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
On completion of the course the student will understand the relevance of communication as part of the media technology studies. The student will be familiar with the requirements of a well composed document, the use of Finnish in technical texts and the conventions of and ethical guidelines for academic writing.

On completion of the course the student will be able to write a letter of application and a CV and produce technical reports that fulfill the basic requirements of academic writing (locating source material, structuring the text, documenting references, using figures and tables).
