Basic knowledge in programming, publishing tools and XML language are compulsory prerequisites.

- The impact of convergence to data systems
- Development of Internet technology
- Internet, Intranet ja Extranet: fundamentals and applications
- Layers of network based system
- The basic architectures of network based systems (ie. client/server)
- Security issues
- The application and requirements of different data formats (image, sound, video, ...)
- Optional network technologies

- Understanding of Web Services technologies
- SOA-architectures

After completing the course the student knows the technologies of internal and external networks and is capable of designing and assessing them.
