- Components of digital printing system and their functions ( PrePress, RIP, print engine, finishing)

- Applications of digital printing, variable data printing
- Quality issues and materials in digital printing

- Color management in digital printing
- Digital printing in cross media publishing
- Variable data software and standards
- Special applications of digital printing ( industrial applications of ink jet printing)
Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
On completion of this unit the student will know the concept of digital printing system and it´s basic functions. He/she will know how to prepare documents for digital printing. He/she will know the physical and functional imaging principles in elektrophotographic and ink jet printing. He/she knows the basic quality and delivery cycle factors in digital print production.
Core content level learning outcomes (skills)
On completion of this unit the student will be able to evaluate technical and economical feasibility of digital printing in different kind of print works. He/she will manage with the the basic operations of a digital printing system. He/she will be able to give instructions for a basic digital printing workflow.
