Basic technical and science education
Course contents (core content level)
Fundamentals of human creativity. Special features of technical creativity and problem solving. TRIZ approach to technical problems.
Patents and other methods to protect inventions.
Course contents (additional)
General methods of idea creation (Brain storming, Synectics etc.).
Methods and processes of product development.
Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
Key concepts of the TRIZ approach (problem modelling, technical and physical contradictions, hidden resources, ideal solution etc.).
Basic methods of idea creation. Sources of patent information.
Core content level learning outcomes (skills)
After completion of this course the student is able to model a technical problem and apply the TRIZ (contradiction-resource-ideal solution) approach to it. The student can also make a patent research on the topic by using the general patent information sources in the Internet.

Problem modelling and TRIZ approach skills are tested in an examination in the middle of the course. Applying the TRIZ methods and patent research are tested in the lab and network exercises.
