Course contents (core content level)
The course covers both theory and practical work. Topics included are the history of ceramics, manufacturing methods, different types of ceramics, deterioration and damage, different analyses, documentation, condition survey, cleaning, filling, glueing, retouching, packaging and transportation.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
The aim of the course is to provide the student with an adequate theoretical background needed in practical conservation work. Upon completion the student will know the ceramic materials, manufacturing methods and deterioration mechanisms. The student will be able to perform the documentation of the object as well as carrying out condition survey. He/she is able to perform different ceramic conservation tasks.
