Prerequisites
Course contents (core content level)
The course includes both theory and practical work. Lectures cover the history and manufacturing methods of glass. Students will also practise these manufacturing methods. During a study visit to Nuutajärvi glass factory and museum the student acquires information about modern glass manufacturing. Each student carries out a documentation, condition survey and writes a treatment plan for glass objects chosen by the teacher. After the treatment plan has been accepted the student will perform the conservation work and writes a written report on the task.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
The aim of the course is to provide the student with an adequate theoretical background needed in practical conservation work. Upon completion the student will know the glass manufacturing materials and techniques. The student will know about glass deterioration and is able to perform different ceramic conservation tasks.
