The development of the Finnish art history from medieval times up till 1950?s. The essential artists and works of art, design and architecture and style periods of the Finnish art. Art in its historical and social context in Finland.

Meaning of art in the context of social and cultural history of Finland.

The student will know the development and history of art and especially painting in Finland. She/he understands the meaning of art and design in the social and historical development of Finland. The student knows the main resources of the Finnish art history.

The student will have a structured idea of the development of art and architecture in Finland and she/he is able to identify a work of art and place it in to its historical context and time period. The student is able to use the resources of museum and library collection.
