Prerequisites

Accepted passing of the first and second year paper conservation courses as well as accepted passing of courses KOPK026 Photograph history and KOPK027 Identification of photograph techniques.

Course contents (core content level)

The basics of photograph conservation, condition survey and preservation of collections. Different conservation practices and theories. Basics in photograph chemistry. Summarizing an article.

The course will give a wide perspective in the conservation and storage strategies of photograph collections.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)

Upon completion the student will recognize the principles of photograph conservation from condition surveys to printing of stable prints and to different conservation methods.

Upon completion the student is able to recognize the deterioration phenomenas of different photographic techniques, performing of condition surveys, and the knows basics of photograph chemistry and conservation methods.
