Basics of Conservation Chemistry 2 cr., Introduction to Laboratory work 1cr.
Course contents (core content level)
This course provides the student with knowledge of conservation dyeing through practical assignments. The theoretical part covers calculations needed in dyeing. Properties of colours, preparation of fabrics and threads as well as chemistry of dyeing will be discussed in the class.
Students dye their own colour samples which will form a part of the dyeing portfolio produced through their study years. Colours will be used for dyeing both natural and synthetic materials.

This course will enable the student to dye the support fabrics and threads needed in consevation work. Students will understand the importance of preparation and use of aid agents.
