Course contents (core content level)
This course presents the history of both hand-made and manufactured textiles through examples. The development and variety of textile art from classical antiquity until today will be discussed as well as the development of the tools used in manufactured textiles. The history of knitting, dyeing, and emroidery will be discussed.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
Upon completion the student will understand the historical development of different textile techniques and how they are connected with the general cultural history. Students understand the essence of textile art and have a good command of the history of both textile art and textile history as well as their importance for future.
