The course covers introduction to cleaning chemistry and theory behind both water and solvent-based cleaning processes as well as detergents used in these processes.

Upon completion the student is able to apply his/her knowledge of chemistry to testing different washing and cleaning processes. Students will be able to find the best cleaning method for different conservation projects.
