Students are familiarized with the practices and resources of the Institute of Art Design and the degree studies as well as fellow students, teaching and other stuff. Students develop an understanding of challenges and possibilities in higher education. They are introduced to library and information services and e-learning possibilities. Students develop basic knowledge of versatile learning and study techniques as well as project work methods.

Students learn some of the essential skills needed for communication in different learning situations and in social situations. Students understand different communication approaches in group and private situations in Finnish and English.
