Course contents (core content level)

The course covers dyeing cellulose and protein fibres by using reactive and acid dyes. Basics of dyeing: concepts of dyeing, dyeing methods, preparations, progress of dyeing, finishing, instructions and how to interpret them, safety at work and ekology. Applying dyeing methods. Industrial dyeing. Creating a colour chart through dyeing.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)

The aim of this course is to enable the student to dye natural fibres by using chemical dyes. The student is able to choose the appropriate dyes and dyeing methods for different fabric and thread materials. He/she knows the tools and techniques used in dyeing to be able to work independently and safely. The student is able to apply his knowledge of colour theory when designing colour maps and dyeing recipes.
