Course contents (core content level)

1. The effect of colour in weaved cloth. Doing the surface layout design. Designing the works that will be done during Kudonta-tekniikka course.
2. Basic bindings, advanced bindings, combining bindings and trying out new kind of bindings. Binding analysis.
3. Designing a weaved cloth and counting the usage of the materials. Creating a weaved cloth, binging and material experimentations. Weaving and finishing the designed work. Weaving tools and equipment.

The course is divided in three parts:
1. Kudotun kankaan suunnittelu I 2 op
2. Sidosoppi 2 op
3. Kudontatekniikka I 5 op

1. Basic weave design and design techniques. Material design and surface pattern design.
2. Basic bindings. Using different kinds of bindings with functionality of the weave, materials and special qualities of the bindings in mind.
3. Weaving with traditional and computer assisted weaving machine. Skills to independently be able to create a weaved cloth and to create various kinds of binding surfaces. The essential weaving tools and counting the usage of materials. Implementing learned information into own works.
