Course contents (core content level)
Design assignments aimed at designing garments for all shapes and sizes. The course also overs topics such as womenswear collections in retailing, different textile and clothing businesses and their business activities, tasks and duties of clothing designer. A small-scale women's collection for a chosen target group by using materials which are agreed upon with the group.Working assignments on materials.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)
Students will learn about the principles of clothing design and construct a clothing collection from the womenswear point of view. Students are required to submit a collection portfolio. The aim of the course is also to provide the students with information about the tasks and duties of a clothing designer.

Teaching and learning strategies
Coursework includes lectures and tutored assignments.
Teaching methods and student workload
Assessment weighting and grading
Students must participate in lectures and tutor teaching. Assignments and exercises must be undertaken. Designing a collection must follow a given format and schedule. Assessment is also based on the student's ability to work meticuously. At the end of the course each student presents his/her collection and provides critique for the fellow students.
