The course covers the evolution of western typography from its birth to the early 20th century. The basic concepts as well as properties regarding readability and communication will also be discussed.

This course provides the student with information about the evolution of western writing, the historical trends of writing as well as typographic concepts and rules. The student understands both the communicational and expressive powers of typography.
