Course contents (core content level)

An advanced study of the history of typography. The course will cover the classic typographic fonts and the identification guidelines.

Readability and fuctionality of fonts. Recognizing the similarily named fonts of various font makers.

Core content level learning outcomes (knowledge and understanding)

The aim of this course is to learn to identify and know classic typographic fonts. Students aim at to be able to differ fonts of the same name used by different manufacturers from each other and apply this information when working within print media.

Core content level learning outcomes (skills)

After the course the student is able to choose functional fonts from various font libraries. He is cabable of use and combine the techniques of classical typography in graphical design.
