This course deepens the students? LAN knowledge acquired during the course Local Area Networks. Upon completion of the unit the students know mathematical ways to understand and evaluate the function and performance of LANs. Main emphasis in this unit is put on the Ethernet technology. The students know the differences between the 10 Mbit/s and 100 Mbit/s Ethernet technologies. The students can configure 10 Mbit/s and 100 Mbit/s Ethernet LAN.
The students know the basic principles of the Token Ring and flow-control methods used in WAN networks.
