Living, studying, and practical training abroad support the student’s personal and professional growth and develop their problem solving and negotiating skills.

Goals of the Degree Programme

The aim of the first two study years is to learn to master various tools needed in business life and to familiarise the student with the different functions of a company. The third year which is studied in England offers the possibility to deepen the know-how of business economics, marketing, advertising, PR, financing and leadership. Lincoln Business School is very dynamic and international and its campus is one of the most modern in the country. In practical training the students apply the achieved knowledge in practice and deepen their know-how of the chosen sector.

Bachelor’s Thesis

The studies are challenging and versatile. The study groups at EVTEK and at Lincoln are multicultural and teachers represent different nationalities, their background in business life and research is different and therefore they have also different teaching methods. The studies are in the form of lectures, independent work and information search. The students participate in contact teaching and also learn skills needed in working life: presentations, reports, cases. Additionally, the studies contain many assignments and projects that are completed either in groups or independently. In order to succeed in these studies the students should be active and motivated to invest both in the diverse working methods and in working with very different people. Thus both the content and the methods of the study units prepare the students excellently for working life.

Due to the structure of the degree programme, study guidance has a significant role; its aim is to support personal and professional growth. Part of this guidance is carried out virtually.

Practical Training and Bachelor’s Thesis

Practical training can be completed after third study year in one six month period or in two three month periods, first of which can be completed earliest after the second study year. It is advisable to carry out the practical training in another country than the country of the studies (Finland or Netherlands/England), because the aim is to gain international experience as much as possible.

Research methods are partly studied at EVTEK and partly as web-based studies. Bachelor’s Thesis is supervised by EVTEK, but the Thesis will be cross read at Lincoln. The Bachelor’s Thesis is a research or survey project, which is often done for a company. It is done independently and it is the most important demonstration of skill, combined with the work experience, familiarises the student with practical work assignments.
